Breakfast series: Sex for breakfast

20 February @ 7:00 am - 8:00 am

Mental health, Sexual health, Perimenopause and Menopause.

Research has shown that the experience of menopause can significantly impact mental health for women during perimenopause, menopause and post menopause. Symptoms can be many and varied and include increased anxiety with feelings of inadequacy, restlessness, and irritability, depression and mood changes, exhaustion and fatigue and rage. The impact of these symptoms on a woman’s sexual health cannot be overstated.
Being able to understand the connection between menopause, mental health and sexual health assists in navigating this life transition more effectively.
Cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based approach to therapy which is used to challenge and change our unhelpful perceptions and develop strategies to better manage common menopausal symptoms. This presentation will describe how CBT can be used as part of a biopsychosocial treatment plan for women experiencing symptoms of perimenopause and menopause.
