DESCRIPTION:This two-session series gently supports participants to navigate the emotional\, practical\,\nand clinical aspects of walking alongside individuals and families at the end-of-life \nHaving and holding end‑of‑life conversations – session 1 – 9 June 2026\nThis series is presented in collaboration with Albany Hospice\, the Great Southern Health Professionals Network\, RACGP\, and WACHS Palliative Care. \nEnd‑of‑life conversations can be challenging\, emotional\, and deeply meaningful. This evening session is designed to gently guide health professionals through the emotional\, practical\, and clinical aspects of supporting individuals and families at the end of life.\nThrough presentations and panel discussion\, participants will explore how compassionate listening\, clear communication\, and palliative care services can support people to feel safe\, heard\, and aligned with their values during this important time. \nSession 1 program:\nHolding Space Through Listening: A Guide to End‑of‑Life Conversations\nPresented by Julie Jasper\, with Colleen Cox and Tammy Button\nThis session explores how deep\, compassionate listening can create safety\, connection\, and meaning when words become difficult. Participants will gain insight into how “holding space” supports individuals and families during end‑of‑life conversations. \nPalliative Services Demystified\nPresented by Megan Downes\, Clinical Nurse Manager\, Albany Hospice\nand Lesley Forrester\, Regional Palliative Care Coordinator\, WACHS.\nAn overview of palliative care services\, providing clarity and reassurance about the supports available to help people remain comfortable\, informed\, and well cared for throughout their journey. \nBalancing Benefits and Burdens\nPresented by Dr Kirsten Auret\nThis presentation takes a thoughtful look at decision‑making around treatments\, services\, and medications\, focusing on aligning care with each person’s goals and values. \n\n\nThe evening will conclude with a facilitated panel discussion\, offering the opportunity to reflect on the presentations and ask questions of the speakers and panel members\, including health professionals and a consumer representative. \n\n\nRegister Now!\nRegistration is essential | Attendance In‑person and online\nLight refreshments will be provided for in‑person attendees.
