SUMMARY:Breakfast series: Sex for breakfast
DESCRIPTION:Mental health\, Sexual health\, Perimenopause and Menopause. \nResearch has shown that the experience of menopause can significantly impact mental health for women during perimenopause\, menopause and post menopause. Symptoms can be many and varied and include increased anxiety with feelings of inadequacy\, restlessness\, and irritability\, depression and mood changes\, exhaustion and fatigue and rage. The impact of these symptoms on a woman’s sexual health cannot be overstated.\nBeing able to understand the connection between menopause\, mental health and sexual health assists in navigating this life transition more effectively.\nCognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based approach to therapy which is used to challenge and change our unhelpful perceptions and develop strategies to better manage common menopausal symptoms. This presentation will describe how CBT can be used as part of a biopsychosocial treatment plan for women experiencing symptoms of perimenopause and menopause.
