SUMMARY:Trauma Skills Refresher Workshop - Katanning
DESCRIPTION:The one- day Trauma Refresher Skills course is designed for rural and remote doctors\, nurses and paramedics working in sites that have no dedicated trauma service and are required to provide care to the critically ill trauma patient. Facilitated by experienced interprofessional emergency medicine clinicians\, participants will have to opportunity to refresh their skills in the management of the critically ill trauma patient and consolidate the crucial principles of trauma management through skills workshops and interactive case discussions. Participants will have the opportunity to practice essential trauma procedures including vascular access and chest drain insertion\, bringing it all together in immersive simulation scenarios. \nThe objectives of this course: \n• Revise and consolidate crucial trauma management principles\n• Practise and enhance skills in essential trauma procedures including large bore vascular access\, IO\, chest\ndecompression\, ICC insertion\, pelvic binder and more\n• Demonstrate an understanding of the critical aspects in burns management\n• Recognise the unique clinical challenges in the assessment and management of trauma in special populations\n• Review aspects of crisis resource management\, initiate effective communication amongst the resuscitation team and\nidentify barriers to a successful resuscitation \nProgram: 7.45am to 5.20pm \nEligibility: All medical practitioners\, emergency department doctors and nurses\, and paramedics. DESCRIPTION:The Injury Prevention Summit is a one-day event held biennially by Injury Matters\, via the Know Injury program\, with funding from the Western Australian Department of Health. \nThe event will be held on 11th May 2023 and will bring together injury prevention and safety promotion practitioners\, policymakers and Local Governments from across Western Australia to share knowledge and build capacity to integrate injury prevention and safety promotion practices into their work. \nExpect Keynote presentations from experts Denise Sullivan\, Director of Chronic Disease Prevention at the Department of Health\, Lucy Saunders\, Director and Founder of Healthy Streets\, and Professor Tanya Chikritzhs\, lead of the Alcohol Policy Research team at the National Drug Research Institute. \nThe Injury Prevention Summit aims to facilitate collaboration within the sector by exploring the cross cutting factors contributing to injury\, while providing the space to exchange knowledge\, ideas\, and information across WA. \nThe three sessions for the day include Evidence-Informed Injury Prevention\, Safe Streets\, and Preventing Harm from Alcohol. \nIn-person registration\, networking\, and refreshments to open from 9:00am for in-person attendees\, with formalities to commence at 9:30am.
